2. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Cookies allow the website to recognise your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and measure how the site is used.
We use the word “cookies” throughout this Policy as shorthand for cookies and for the following comparable technologies, all of which involve storing information on, or reading information from, your device:
- Pixels and web beacons — tiny transparent images or snippets of code embedded in a page or an email, which report back that the page was viewed or the email was opened.
- Tags and scripts — code loaded by the page which sends event data to a third party, such as an analytics or advertising provider.
- Local storage and session storage — browser storage that holds data on your device in a similar way to a cookie, but usually with a larger capacity.
- Software development kits and device identifiers — used by third-party services that our Site loads.
2.1 First-party and third-party cookies
- First-party cookies are set by farhanterubos.com itself.
- Third-party cookies are set by another organisation whose service we load into our pages, or whose link you have clicked. We do not control the contents of third-party cookies.
2.2 Session and persistent cookies
- Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period, or until you delete them.
3. The categories of cookies we use
We classify every cookie into one of four categories. Only the first category is set without your consent.

Google Analytics data retention on our property is currently set to 14 months. We use IP anonymisation and we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising personalisation features within Google Analytics.
4.3 Marketing and advertising
We do not currently run advertising pixels directly on the pages of farhanterubos.com. We do deploy advertising pixels through Switchy, the link-shortening and link-tracking service we use for the short links we publish on social media and elsewhere. If you click one of our shortened links, the following may be set before you arrive at the destination page:

4.4 Embedded content
Where we embed third-party content — for example a podcast player, a YouTube video, a social media post or a payment form — that third party may set its own cookies when the content loads or when you interact with it. Embedded providers that may set cookies include Google (YouTube), Meta, Spotify and our payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Billplz and Razorpay).
Where technically possible, we load embedded content in a privacy-enhanced mode, or defer loading until you interact with it.
5. The legal basis for using cookies
5.1 Malaysia
Where a cookie or similar technology collects information that constitutes personal data, we process it under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709), as amended by the Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024. We rely on your consent under section 6(1)(a) of the PDPA for all non-essential cookies, and on the necessity of the processing for the performance of a contract or the delivery of a service you have requested under section 6(2)(b) for strictly necessary cookies.
5.2 United Kingdom and European Economic Area
If you access the Site from the UK or the EEA, we additionally apply the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC as implemented in your jurisdiction (in the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003), together with the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. Under those rules:
- strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement;
- every other cookie requires your prior, freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent, given by a clear affirmative act;
- we will not treat scrolling, continued browsing or a pre-ticked box as consent; and
- withdrawing consent must be as easy as giving it.
6. Consent management
Non-essential cookies are blocked until you give consent. When you first visit the Site, you are presented with a consent notice that allows you to:
- accept all cookies;
- reject all non-essential cookies; or
- choose which categories to allow.
Rejecting non-essential cookies is as easy as accepting them, and rejecting them does not degrade your access to any content on the Site.
We record the fact, date, time and scope of your consent, together with the version of the notice you were shown, so that we can evidence it. Consent records are kept for three (3) years. We ask you to renew your consent at least every twelve (12) months, and immediately whenever we introduce a materially new cookie or purpose.
7. How to change or withdraw your consent
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by any of the following means.
- Use the cookie preferences link in the footer of the Site to reopen the consent notice and change your selections.
- Delete the cookies stored by the Site in your browser, which will cause the consent notice to be shown again on your next visit.
- Configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Instructions are published by each browser vendor for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Brave and Opera.
- Email us at [email protected] and ask us to record your objection.
Withdrawal takes effect from the moment we receive it and does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before then.
7.1 Opting out of specific third parties
- Google Analytics — install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or reject analytics cookies in our consent notice.
- Meta — adjust your advertising preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings.
- TikTok, Google Ads and Pinterest — adjust the advertising settings in your account with each platform.
Opting out of personalised advertising does not stop you seeing advertising. It stops the advertising being tailored to you.
8. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Where our systems detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a valid instruction to withhold or withdraw consent to all non-essential cookies, and as an opt-out from any sale or sharing of personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We also honour browser “Do Not Track” (DNT) headers where we are able to detect them, and treat them in the same way. DNT is not a formally standardised specification and not all third-party services respect it; where a third party ignores the signal we cannot force it to comply, but we will not knowingly load a non-essential third-party technology in the face of a DNT or GPC signal.
9. What happens if you block cookies
- Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break the Site. You will not be able to log in, hold items in a cart, or complete a purchase.
- Blocking functional cookies means preferences will not be remembered between visits.
- Blocking analytics cookies means we cannot see how the Site is being used. Nothing changes for you.
- Blocking marketing cookies means we cannot measure the performance of our content and advertising. Nothing changes for you.
10. Cookies in email
Our newsletters contain a tracking pixel and tracked links which tell us whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. We use this only to measure engagement, to improve what we send, and to identify and remove inactive subscribers, as described in our Privacy Policy.
You can prevent open tracking by configuring your email client to block remote images. You can stop all tracking by unsubscribing, using the link at the foot of every message.
11. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We re-scan the Site for cookies periodically and update this Policy when the cookies in use change, when we add or remove a service, or when the law changes.
Material changes will be reflected in an updated version number and effective date at the top of this document, and where the change introduces a new non-essential technology we will ask for your consent again before deploying it.
